Real Estate School

What Is A Real Estate School?

A real estate school is a state-approved educational institution that delivers the pre-licensing coursework required before you can sit for the licensing exam. Without completing your education through an approved school, you are not eligible to take the exam or earn your license.

Schools come in different formats: self-paced online video, live instruction over Zoom, or in-person classroom sessions. The format you choose has a direct impact on how well you learn, how engaged you stay, and how prepared you feel on exam day.

Live Zoom Classes

How Our Real Estate Classes Work

Every class is a live Zoom session. Your instructor is there in real time, your classmates are there in real time ask questions, join discussions, and get immediate feedback on anything unclear.

Real-time instruction

Live sessions with a licensed broker every class. Never pre-recorded videos.

Evening schedule

Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 5:30–8:30 PM — built around your workday.

Small class sizes

Genuine interaction and personalized attention, not a lecture hall.

Direct instructor access

Reach your instructor with questions outside of scheduled class time.

75 hours, two courses

Real Estate Fundamentals (30 hrs) and Real Estate Practice (45 hrs).

Continuous momentum

Flow straight from Fundamentals into Practice with the same instructor and classmates.

Most students complete the full 75 hours in 8 to 10 weeks without disrupting their work schedule.

Choosing the Right Format

Live Instruction Vs. Self-paced Online

Most schools sell self-paced video courses. It sounds convenient — but for most people it is not an effective way to learn. Live Zoom instruction fixes the three problems that sink self-paced students.

Isolation

No instructor to ask when something doesn’t make sense — you rewind the video and hope it clicks.

High dropout

Without a scheduled class time, it’s easy to procrastinate and eventually abandon the course.

Passive learning

Clicking through slides isn’t the same as engaging with an instructor who adjusts in real time.

Factor Self-Paced Online Live Zoom (EREA) In-Person
Instructor interaction None or email only Real-time Q&A every session Face-to-face
Schedule Your pace (anytime) Mon/Tue/Thu evenings Fixed daytime or evening

A cheaper course isn’t always the better deal. Students who go the budget, self-paced route and fail end up paying retake fees that often exceed the cost of a quality school where they’d have passed the first time. We invest in your success upfront so you don’t pay for it later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Real Estate School

A real estate school is a state-approved institution that delivers the pre-licensing education required before you can take the state licensing exam. At Elite Real Estate Academy, we offer 75 hours of live Zoom instruction taught by a licensed broker.

Costs range from $99 at budget self-paced platforms to over $800 at premium schools. At Elite Real Estate Academy, the 75-hour bundle is $500. Individual courses are $275 each. No hidden fees.

Most states require between 40 and 180 hours of pre-licensing education. With our evening schedule, the full 75 hours take 8 to 10 weeks to complete.

It is challenging but very achievable with consistent effort. Students who attend live instruction and engage with the material report feeling well-prepared for the exam. The difficulty comes from inconsistency, not from the material itself.

It depends on the format. Self-paced courses are flexible but have high dropout rates. Live Zoom courses like ours give you real-time interaction with your instructor while still learning from home. For most students, live online is the best balance.

Yes. Our classes meet in the evenings (Mon/Tue/Thu, 5:30 to 8:30 PM) specifically so working professionals can attend without disrupting their day schedule.

No. A high school diploma or GED is all you need. Real estate is one of the few high-earning professions where your income depends on effort, not academic credentials.

Property ownership, contracts, agency law, fair housing, financing, property valuation, listing presentations, buyer representation, negotiations, transaction management, closing procedures, and professional ethics.

Look for state approval, instructor credentials, course format, student reviews, pass-rate transparency, and what is included in the price. We cover all of these on our about page and reviews page.

Self-paced courses are pre-recorded videos you watch alone. Live instruction happens in real time with an instructor who can answer your questions on the spot — producing higher engagement, lower dropout rates, and better exam results.

Check your state’s real estate commission website for a list of approved schools and look for a state approval number. Elite Real Estate Academy is state-approved, Approval #RE001089.

You take the state licensing exam, complete a background check, find a sponsoring broker, and submit your license application. The full process takes 8 to 12 weeks.
